"Can't Ask Now! Basic Knowledge of Electric Lock Control" What is biometric authentication?
Information on biometric authentication, including basic knowledge, applications, and case studies!
What is "biometric authentication"? It is an authentication device that identifies and verifies individuals by using (reading) a part of their body. Biometric authentication is often implemented in places, buildings, and facilities that require a higher level of security than authentication terminals like keypads or card readers, as it is difficult to replicate. - Facial recognition: A method that reads the structure and shape of the face. - Fingerprint recognition: A method that reads the shape of fingerprints. - Vein recognition: A method that reads the shape of veins. - Iris recognition: A method that reads the membrane (iris) between the pupil and the lens. - Voice recognition: A method that reads characteristics of the voice, such as voice quality. - Ear recognition: A method that reads the contours of the ear canal. - DNA recognition: A method that reads an individual's DNA. - Behavioral recognition: A method that uses behavioral characteristics, such as usage history of computers or smartphones, to verify identity. *Facial recognition has dramatically spread due to infection control measures. It can also distinguish between wearing a mask or not, and there are systems that can authenticate while wearing a mask. Some devices come with thermal cameras that allow for temperature checks simultaneously with authentication. Products that can be set to "do not unlock (do not allow passage) if the temperature is above 37.5 degrees" are also increasing.
